Abstract

The disorderly growth of the Brazilian urban centers has resulted in serious environmental problems which can be minimized and/or prevented by specific environmental studies. The study was developed in 270 Km2 of Araraquara city (SP). The geologic units of the study area represent the lithologies of the NE of the Paraná Sedimentary Basin. The sequence of lithostratographic and aquifer systems is formed by: the Botucatu Formation; the Serra Geral Formation; the Adamantina Formation and Cenozoic sediments. The methodological approach included: bibliography revision; field and laboratorial work; integration of data and analysis of the results through the Method GOD of mapping of the natural vulnerability of aquifers (FOSTER et al. 2002). The units of natural vulnerability are: High in Serra Geral and Botucatu formations; Low to Moderate in Adamantina Formation and Extreme in the Cenozoic sediments.
