Abstract

The characterization of water consumption determines which activities consume water the least, and which factors influence consumption, such as natural phenomena, water scarcity, and climate. The present research aimed to characterize the water consumption of the population of Pau dos Ferros through different methods based on income, micromediation values, return coefficient of sewage, literary suggestions and calculation through averages obtained by interview with the inhabitants, defining which uses of water are the most prevalent in residences. The average found for per capita consumption according to the interview was 417.4 l / inhab.day. Among the activities that contribute the most to per capita consumption were the use of the shower and kitchen sink, preceded by the volume used in the sanitary basins. For all methods, consumption increased as the years went by.
