Abstract

This paper aimed to focus the evaluation of techniques and procedures to obtain digital products relative to Digital Terrain Model, Three-dimensional Perspective of the Terrain and Slopes Chart for several methods coupled to the software SURFER and Geographical Information Systems (IDRISI 3.2 and SPRING 3.5). The tested techniques were applied in order to demonstrate the importance and utilization of geoprocessing methods, for generating alternatives of three-dimensional visualization of the studied area. The main objective was the optimization of field procedures of the detailed geological-geotechnical mapping at 1:10,000 scale, for an area of 180 km2, sighting environmental analysis. It discusses the modeling of processes that can raise to the risks associated with plains flooding, resulted from the relation between erosion and sanding up, in sources of the Monjolinho River Basin, where is localized the medium-size studied city like São Carlos -SP, Brazil.
